Education today is going through changing times. Globalisation and the impact of technology has brought the world closer than ever before. The global village, as the world is known in recent times is also becoming smarter and more compact. In such a situation, it only becomes all the more wiser to realize and understand the impact that elementary education has on the world. A recent UN based study is believed to have discerned that 30% of children do not have access to elementary education all over the world today. So, in spite of technological advancements, it's ironical that 30% of children do not have access to elementary education. The welfare state thus has a huge task ahead of it in making the world less ignorant. Education ignites the mind and is believed to reduce human ignorance. As Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru has stated, we have miles to go, before we sleep, miles to go to make the world a literate and educated one.

We, at St.Mary's, are contributing our little drop, in our own way, into the mighty ocean of learning, through whatever limited resources we possess. We hope and pray that God, who is the giver of all knowledge and wisdom, would strengthen and empower the world to spread knowledge and wisdom through education. Let us commit ourselves to take upon this global challenge as our spiritual duty to God.
